The row about Rio Ferdinand’s ‘forgotten‘ random drugs test is getting out of hand. I think his excuse is pretty lame, and you do have to wonder at why Man United didn’t make sure he took the test, but the FA have been totally incompetent.
They had a duty to keep the player’s identity confidential, as they have with others. The fact that playing against Turkey could have been later challenged is by the by. All they had to do was pick him, take him to Turkey and for him to have a diplomatic injury in training the day before the match. End of story. Read/listen to Robbo’s take on this story.
