I read tonight that Gerry Adams ‘regrets’ the Birmingham bomb thirty years ago. ‘Regret’ seems to me to be a flimsy word to describe 21 civilian deaths. Two pubs deliberately targetted, death of innocents an inevitable outcome.
But this is what happens to terrorists. They start like Gerry, hot-blooded and angry and blowing folk apart. While you blink, they turn into bloody statesmen, viz Yasser Arafat. And a state funeral.
My only hope is that Gerry enjoys the latter sooner rather than later at which I might also express ‘regret.’
