Ah, Saturday! Mrs P is out walking the dog, Ms P is at work and Master P has taken himself off to the shops with his mate. Peace and quiet. What to do? I looked round the room and wondered about a bit of tidying up. Then I looked out of the window at the garden and thought about some pruning. In the end I did both. I sat at my PC and tidied up and pruned my blog roll.

Clarkson on parenting: Last weekend I was entrusted with the task of being a single father for two days, and frankly I’d have been better off doing underwater knitting. I made a complete has of it. When my wife arrived home on Sunday evening, way past the kids’ bedtime, one child was bleeding profusely, one had left home and the other was stuck up a tree. 28 April 2002
