I always enjoyed watching Steve Coppel as a player and listening to his measured, thoughtful comments after the game, so I glad that he is doing well as manager of Reading.

He was interviewed on Radio Five this morning and one of his comments illustrated the the man. When asked why he became a manager, he said, “What do you do when you’re too old to play, too poor to be a director and too much in love with the game to be an agent.” Spot on.
