When I saw the headline “Mandarins ‘cut liver cancer risk’” for one mad moment I thought that at last, the actions of senior civil servants had done something to improve health. Sadly no. It’s the fruit. Seems that the vitamin A compounds called carotenoids which give the fruit its orange colour lower thr risk of liver disease, hardened arteries and insulin resistance.
