My Secrets

My Secrets

Another story that I meant to write about this week was the government proposal to allowing the security services to monitor its citizens email indiscriminately.

You know, the same politicians who were totally opposed the idea when the previous government floated the idea.

A lot of people aren’t very comfortable with that idea, even if the Daily Mail says ‘if you’ve nothing to hide, you’ve nothing to fear’.

Anyway, the Sunday Times may have jokingly come up with and effective way of protesting – we can save the spooks the trouble by copying GCHQ every time we send an email.

And why stop there? We could copy them to 10 Downing Street, our local MP and completely clog up the system as well as making our point.

GCHQ isn’t keen on giving out its email address, but I’m guessing at info@gchq.gsi.gov.uk.

Just a thought.

Excellent idea! I’d be quite happy to do that.

Even George Orwell didn’t imagine that The State could ever dream up such a draconian scheme in what we were led to believe was our free country. If you’re reading this GCHQ try to work this dialogue out!

My country (the U. S. of A.), despite Lord Pudding’s fantasies to the contrary, is becoming less free all the time. Now our courts are saying that police have the right to perform strip-searches on people for even minor traffic infractions because the need for security in our jails is more important than invasions of someone’s supposed privacy.

If the strip searches are to be conducted by lady police officers then I for one will have no objection.
