It all started when Mrs P decided we needed a new carpet in the hall. She had a point if I’m honest, the old one looking rather worse for wear after so much heavy traffic over the years.
But carpets never stop in the hall do they? Before I knew it, it had run up the stair and along the landing all the way to our bedroom door. And while my back was turned, it was all over the living floor as well.
That didn’t happen right away – there were other things to occupy me before the carpet was delivered because where there is a need for new carpets, there also rooms to be redecorated. So I had to put my not considerable painting skills to the test, but at least I didn’t have to worry too much about getting drips of silk emulsion on the soon-to-be redundant floor covering.
We spent the best part of a week decorating and had just about finished when the new carpet arrived and we were really pleased with the results, especially after I chose the rug pictured above as the finishing touch in the lounge.
Even as I contemplated resting on my laurels, Mrs P decided that now we’d got the hang of this decorating lark we should set about my son’s old room, generally brightening it up and installing a cheap sofa-bed so that it became a sort of guest/sitting room. Why we should need yet another room to sit in I’ve no idea but felt it politic to keep my thoughts to myself.
We had finally put the finishing touches to the room when I was asked to do an urgent paid-editing job and emailed what I hope is the finished version this morning so, apart from the small matter of Christmas decorations, perhaps I’ll have more free time for blogging.
I’ve made a start by adding a Christmas themed song of the day at the top of the right-hand sidebar. Fingers-crossed I will change this each day to enhance your reading pleasure or general annoyance. But then again I might not.
