Mr Parrot’s real name is Ian, but the former has been a pseudonym since 2003 when I first started blogging. There is a story behind the Shooting Parrots title should you care to read it.
I sometimes wonder why I started blogging or why I’ve carried on doing it for so long. It certainly isn’t for the fame or the glory, which is just as well as Shooting Parrots has yet to earn me any.
I suppose it’s a way of getting rid of the stuff that’s inside my head and I feel much better for it.
For the record, I live in Stockport (which is in Chestershire for non-UK residents). I am the wrong side of 30, but then I’m the wrong side of quite a few other numbers.
I spent most of my working life as a manager in the NHS, so I shall never go to heaven. However, I left that particular madhouse in 2010 and my wife will tell you that ‘pottering’ is my main occupation these days with occasional forays in gainful employment through short-term contract work.
We have two children, a daughter who is currently teaching in Japan and a son who lives at home and is gainfully employed locally.
And last, but not least, there is Dottie, our Parson’s Jack Russell cross.
Despite the advent of Facebook and Twitter, there is still a lot more fun in blogging and I have made many cyber friends over the years. Some have fallen by the wayside, but there are enough left to keep t’interweb an interesting place to visit.
