Second City?

I’ve been listening to the Aston Villa Birmingham game this afternoon and the commentator constantly referred to it as the ‘second city derby’ which I think a bit presumptuous. There are lots of other cities up and down the land that might lay claim to that title — Bristol, Liverpool, Leeds and Newcastle to name but four. However, speaking as an unbiased Mancunian, I don’t think the argument is in any doubt — the honour of being England’s second city is undoubtedly London’s.
