I’ve mentioned the BBC’s virtual replay pages before, a really nifty way to relive the goals from recent games through animated simulations. And of course, it’s usually the goalscorers who get the limelight, but I’m pleased to say that in a departure from the norm, a goalie gets an animation this week — Shay Given’s amazing double save in the cup quarter-final against Spurs yesterday.

Next I think they should show the howlers of the day, starting with Freddie Ljungberg’s open goal miss from two yards out against Leicester. It was priceless, even beat Kanu’s ballooned shot for West Brom earlier this season.

I couldn't believe Ljunberg's miss, though in fairness I think Kanu was even closer to the goal line when he hit row Z.

Ah well, at least we get to visit Cardiff the once before they shift things back to Wembley and a slightly shorter journey.
