Dish of the Day

I don’t want this to become one of those recipe blogs, but I had to share this one because it’s bloody delicious — Italian Stuffed Turkey Burgers — and it’s dead easy.

It was Miss Parrot’s idea. She got one of those Atkins diet recipe book free with one of her magazines and though no-one in this house is on any kind of diet, other than an unhealthy one, she decided to give the above a go.

I won’t do the boring ingredient list and instructions bit — instructions, like manuals, are for wimps — but just the general gist of it. Take a pack of minced turkey and mix it with grated parmesan, fresh basil, parsley and oregano, salt and pepper and a beaten egg.

Split it into chunky burger patties and bung a piece of mozzarella in the middle. Coat with an olive oil and red wine vinegar mix and stick ’em under the grill for about five minutes a side. Hey presto, burgers to die for.

And as it isn’t red meat, it isn’t likely to cause you cancer either.
