Back Pain

I was unfortunately right about the dangers of DIY stores. Having lugged round that humungous bag of compost yesterday, I woke up at about 3am with pains across my lower back. I think I did when trying to wrestle the bag out of the supermarket-style trolley into the car that nearly saw me, it and the trolley falling into the boot.

Sleep was impossible as every time I moved, the pain woke me up again, so eventually I got up at around 5.30 and hobbled round the house for a while before work.

Simple things become very difficult when your back’s bad, like being able to get at your feet to wash them in the shower, or put on a pair of socks, emptying the dishwasher, in fact anything that requires back movement which rules in just about everything.

I will show more sympathy for Mrs P who suffers back pain on a regular basis and hope that mine is only temporary.

You have my sympathy! I had a spell of severe back pain a while ago that made me much more sympathetic to the patients I see with the problem.

I went to see a chiropracter, which did seem to help.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Thanks for that. As you'll see, things have taken an upturn and hopefully no relapse in the night.

Mrs P employs the services of a chiropractor which ha helped, although her problems are more skeletal than muscular.

My ex has awful problems with hers. When it goes it *goes*. She's had something like 3 months off work in 2 or so years (6 weeks in one go once).

Seems to be nothing they can do about it. It's longer and longer between spasms now, so I suppose it's getting better but it's a constant worry.

Shame they don't do replacement spines on the NHS.
