Please Don’t be Offended

I’ve been biting my tongue for some time, if that’s the right cliché to use when what I’ve really been resisting is typing this post rather than blurting out something that is bound to offend someone you’d rather not.

It’s that WWF pop-up that is appearing with grinding regularity on more and more blogs (and you know who you are.)

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great that the Worldwide Wrestling Federation is so much in touch with its Venusian-ness, so close to its yang, that it can fret about small furry creatures (and the bigger ones, the ones with the extended canines and a penchant for zebra-vaulting) even while executing a half-nelson, forearm smash (Google that and you’re into glass sex-toy territory) or a figure-four or whatever moves they do these days.

Wouldn’t have done in the days of Kendo Nagasaki, Jackie ‘Mr TV’ Pallo and, my own favourite, Les Kellett I can tell you. But that was then and this is now, to haul yet another cliché into harness.

I’ve wandered from the point, as I often do. The thing is that this particular pop-up arrives despite the best efforts of Firefox’s best ad-blocker attempts.

So please, please switch it off. It’s been a tough week and a grumpy old git needs an early night.

Bloody hell, I get that as well.

    It's driving me mad also.

Isn't there a spray or something to get rid of the bugger?

Strangely it hasn't appeared since I logged on to your site to leave a text message.

    Food for thought?

I've noticed it too but only on some site, yours not included, I hasten to add.

I used to be an animal lover. Nowadays I swear when I see the buggers appearing.

Surely that can't have been the purpose of this campaign?
