Viral Challenge

If you like words, as I do, then there is nothing better than finding a new one. Correction — one you didn’t know existed. These little gems are magical, but also a little sad because the reason you didn’t know about them is because they have faded from the vocabulary when it shouldn’t have done.

This weeks example is ‘gallimaufry‘ meaning a hotchpotch, possibly from the French galimafree, a sort of sauce or stew. (It doesn’t appear in my Visual Thesaurus which is usually reliable, although Blogger spell check is happy enough with it.)

We need to get gallimaufry back into use again, so it’s time for a viral campaign. Here’s the challenge: work gallimaufry into your next posting. Better still, challenge your readers to do the same. Before you know, it will be back in common usage.

Let’s lift gallimaufry from lost obscurity back into the modern world. A buzz word. A business word.
