The run up to Christmas has been hectic for all sorts of reasons, not least taking my dad for a hospital appointment to hear news that wasn’t the best, but not the worst either.
I should really have been writing my contribution to ABC Wednesday, but the best laid plans and all that. Hopefully I should be able to find time over the holiday.
And it Christmas Day was its usual fun, exhausting round of gifts and food and photos, like the one above of Miss P with her McFly book. She wasn’t really engrossed, simply unhappy with dad and his camera.
I hope you all enjoyed a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all my reader (sic).
Apparently I am “your reader (sic)” so I thank you for your good wishes whilst reminding you that the twelve days of Christmas come after Christmas, not before as the merchants would have us all believe. Rushing the season is de rigeur here in the former colonies, a very good example of which is that yesterday our daughter-in-law’s mother gave us nine boxes (you read that correctly) of chocolates in red heart-shaped boxes. Apparently there was a sale at Russell Stover’s. She had similar shopping bags full for each of my offspring. It’s only the second day of Christmas and already we’ve received Valentine’s Day gifts.
I’m another reader but not sic – in fact hale and hearty – or was that a comedy duo from Wigan?
Sorry the news about your dad wasn’t good, SP, but pleased that you still had an enjoyable Christmas. Hope the coming year will be good for you all.
