Yorkshire Pudding was musing on the subject of his own mortality the other day and coincidentally I have been doing the same of late.
Like YP, the prospect of death isn’t something I think about often except in the most abstract ‘sometime in the future’ sort of way. But as Ray Charles observed: ‘Live each day like it’s your last, ’cause one day you gonna be right’. Read more ›››
Something odd has happened to my blogroll. That’s the Regular Reads section in the sidebar on the right.
I use a plugin called WP Social Blogroll and it used to list blogs I regularly visit in the order of who had posted most recently. It also gave the title of the post and if you clicked on it a list of recent posts would drop down. But now all it does is list the blog titles in alphabetical order. Read more ›››
The great thing about catch-up tv is that you can, well…, catch-up on the tv you’ve missed and last night I caught up with Time Commanders which started a new series this week.
For the uninitiated, Time Commanders pits two teams against each other in a recreation of historic battles, some famous, some less so, using the same game engine that you’ll find in computer games like Total War. Read more ›››
I’ve been rather busy of late, too busy to do much by the way of blogging, except for my ABC Wednesday and Sunday Round-up posts, and too busy visit other people’s blogs as often as I would like.

It was all very weird. All was fine on Thursday but when I woke on Friday, there it was gone even though Shooting Parrots was still up. Instead I got a mysterious Error 500 message which as error messages go is so generic as to be useless. Read more ›››
They say that travel broadens the mind, although I’m not entirely sure who ‘they’ are. Perhaps the narrow-minded whose outlook needs to put on a few pounds.
While on Paxos, we toyed with the idea of a trip to the southern bit of the archipelago known as Antipaxos, home to 150 people and endless viniculture dedicated to the production of the ‘famous Antipaxos wines’. Read more ›››
The cover is being put over the parrot’s cage for a little while as we take a short break on the Greek island of Paxos, the smallest of the Ionian islands and with no prospect of internet access as far as I can tell.
It would be nice to think that I can take a few photos as good as the one on the left, although we are warned that the skies might not be quite so blue at this time of year. Read more ›››
Roger posted about this grammar nerd sign that his sister had sent o him via Facebook saying: ‘This is you dear brother.’
Like him, my immediate thought was that there should be a comma between the words ‘you’ and ‘brother’, which I guess must mark me down as a grammar nerd, but I thought I should take the test anyway. Read more ›››
