I is for Island

Which is something of a challenge because I live in Stockport which is quite a way from the sea, so I am having to be a little creative with my images.

This is a Google Earth image of the uninhabited Stockport Islands, part of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago in the territory of Nunavut. They were discovered by Admiral Sir George Back who named it after Stockport, the place of his birth. Read more ›››

Phoenix From the Ashes?

Seems I wasn’t the only one affected by the fire at Ashton Market Hall. I’ve had several conversation with people who were equally shocked. There’s almost a sense of bereavement. It’s a bit like losing an elderly relative who you haven’t visited for ages, but who you thought would always be there.

There has been brave talk about rebuilding it, but the latest pictures on the Tameside website don’t look too promising. Read more ›››
